I have spent some time thinking about whether OSGi could be ported to Microsoft’s .Net platform and concluded that there was some “issues” with each of the alternatives. But this paper explains it better than I could.
With some of the the major application server vendors either already OSGi-based or rapidly moving towards it I wonder how long it will be before Microsoft addresses the aforementioned issues and produces its own OSGi-like architecture. Even if they do I bet it wont quite be as open and interoperable with (java-based) OSGi as some of their recent claims of being open claim that they will be.
Kudos to these guys for the paper anyway. It was a nice read.
